Bessie Leaf

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at First Baptist Church for Bessie Leaf of Artesia.

Mrs. Leaf, 93, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at her home.

Pastor Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Shane Clark, Brian Clark, Travis Clark, Tommy Leaf, Monty Leaf and Keith Leaf.

There will also be visitation on Sunday, Nov. 30 at Terpening Son Mortuary from 2:00 8:00 p.m. and also Monday morning from 8:30 12:24.

Bessie was born June 25, 1921 in Lake Arthur, NM the daughter of William N. Waldrip and Betty Elizabeth Nelson Waldrip. She was a lifelong area resident.

On December 2, 1945 she was married to William C. Bill Leaf in Roswell, NM. He preceded her in death 8201994.

Bessie grew up on a farm in Cottonwood. She graduated from Lake Arthur High School in 1939. She worked at State Farm Insurance for 25 years as a secretary. She made many lifelong friends during those years. She enjoyed crossstitch and yard work. Bessie loved the Lord and her family. She lived a sweet simple fulfilling life. Anyone who ever met Bessie described her with one word, SWEET. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Adult 8 Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, a brother and grandson Blane Leaf.

Survivors include her son William Buster Leaf, Jr. and wife Becky of Forney, TX daughter Betty Clark and husband Steve of Artesia grandchildren Shane Clark of Albuquerque, NM, Brian Clark of Albuquerque, NM, Travis Clark of Kalispell, MT, Brenda Navaja of Forney, TX, Tommy Leaf of Frisco, TX, Monty Leaf of Providence, TX and Keith Leaf of Garland, TX and 12 great grandchildren.
