Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 12 at Trinity Temple Assembly of God in Artesia, N.M. for longtime Artesia resident Bertha Johnson of Roswell, New Mexico. Mrs. Johnson, 73, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 in Roswell. Rev. Donald Batson will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles R. Hall, Marcus C. R. Hall, Michael Andrews, Ervin Farris, Urlin Clark, IV, and Royce Pearson. Mrs. Johnson was born April 14, 1929 in Roswell; the daughter of Cleveland Powell and Laura Samuel Powell. She married Roy Lee Mullins in 1947 in Artesia. In 1970 she was married to Rueben Johnson in Artesia. He preceded her in death 1997. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and by a son Larry Mullins. Survivors include daughters Linda Mullins of Denver, Colorado and Ella Andrews of Roswell; sisters Frances Morgan and Betty Johnson both of San Diego, Calif., Martha Gibson of Dallas, Texas, Emma Ross of Carlsbad, N.M., and Virginia Hudson and Hattie Ward both of Artesia; grandchildren Marilyn Pulliman, Michelle Hurd, Marcus C. R. Hall, Lariesa Howell, Nakesha Acosta, Urlin Clark, IV, Erica Andrews, and Latoya Andrews; and eight great-grandchildren.
