Bert Connelly

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 30, at Terpening Son Chapel for Bert E. Connelly, 2302 W. Bullock Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Connelly, 79, died Friday, May 27, 2005 at his home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mr. Connelly was born July 28, 1925 in Atoka, Oklahoma; the son of Herbert Connelly and Edna Usher Connelly. He was married to Joyce Byrum. He came to Artesia in March, 2005 from Bent, New Mexico. He was a longtime resident of Lovington, N.M. and had also lived in Cloudcroft, N.M. He was a retired Production Foreman for Hanson Petroleum. He was a member of Jackson Ave. Baptist Church in Lovington, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Lovington Masonic Lodge 46 where he had served as Worshipful Master, and DeMolay Dad. He served his country in World War II as a Supervisor at Bremerton Washington State Shipyard, and was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers George, Ted, and David Connelly; 5 sisters Helen Robertson, Mayola Taylor, Ida Richardson, Thelma Davis, and Dale Van Horn. Survivors include his wife Joyce Connelly of the family home; sons Steven Connelly and wife Linda of Portales, N.M., Darrell Connelly and wife Cymantha of Littleton, Colorado, Kenneth Connelly and wife Ruth of Katy, Texas, and Richard Connelly and wife DeAnne of Artesia; daughter Cheryl Clarkson and husband Michael of Aurora, Colorado; brother Bill Connelly of Grove Port, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandsons.
