Bernard Schneider

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Woodbine Cemetery for Bernard W. Schneider, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Schneider, 80, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 in Artesia. Leo Pennington will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be grandsons John Robert Schneider, David W. Schneider, Don Turner, Cody A. Schneider, Bobby Dean Schneider, and Skyler Johnson; and friends Wayne Wallace and Sonny Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Phillips, John Pinkerton, Doepp Crockett, Robert Ellis, Darwin Lawson, Doug Garrett, Avery Cox, and all nephews. Mr. Schneider was born July 15, 1923 in Canyon, Texas; the son of George B. Schneider and Dorothy F. Huseman Schneider. He moved to Hope, N.M. in the early 1930's and to Artesia in the early 1940's. He served in the United States Army in the late 1940's. On February 21, 1953 he was married to Billie Kay Markham in Artesia. She preceded him in death April 27, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; by brothers Ivan Schneider and Leonard Schneider; and by a granddaughter Lori Lynn Schneider. He was a retired blacksmith for Amax Chemical Company and member of Faith Baptist Church; the Moose Lodge; and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include sons Robert B. Schneider of Artesia and John A. Schneider of Artesia; a daughter Jo Lynn Schneider of Artesia; brothers Robert Schneider of Lake Arthur, N.M., Francis Schneider of Hope, and Melvin Schneider of Arlington, Texas; a sister Beth Fullingham of Janesville, Calif.; and grandchildren John Robert Schneider of Artesia, David William Schneider of Prairie Grove, Ark., Don Turner of California, Cody A. Schneider and Bobby Dean Schneider both of Arkansas and Skyler Johnson of Artesia. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Brittany Lynn Schneider, Justin Tyler Sullivan, and Tyra Justice Schneider all of Artesia, and Donnie Turner, III and Dillon Turner both of California; five step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
