Benito Ortega

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 20 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Benito Hernandez Ortega, 1116 W. Missouri Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Ortega, 56, died Thursday, August 15, 2002 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Father Virgilio Flores will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ismael Perez, Frank Trujillo, Joe Hernandez, Steven Aguilar, Tony Vazquez, and Epifanio Bustamante, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Cosme Gomez, Andres Fabela, Ricardo McHaney, Ramon Carbajal and Mr. Ortegas nephews. A Rosary service is also scheduled at 6:30 P.M. Monday at Our Lady of Grace. Mr. Ortega was born November 22, 1945 in Alpine, Texas; the son of Benito U. Ortega and Santos Hernandez Ortega. He came to Artesia from Albuquerque in 1992. He was a cement finisher and member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church. Mr. Ortega was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother Felix Ortega in 1970. Survivors include a daughter Melissa of Clovis, N.M.; a brother Edwardo Ortega of Artesia; a sister Josie Aguilar and husband John of Artesia; nephews David Aguilar, Ricardo Aguilar and Roman Aguilar; and a niece Annette Vazquez.
