Belinda Vargas

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Belinda Leyba Vargas of Artesia, New Mexico..

Mrs. Vargas, 50, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at her parent's home.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Leyba, Casey Ryburn, James Dawson, Angelo Briseno, Julian Ochoa, Jesus Chavez, Ramiro Valencia, Joey Olivos, Rodger DeLeon, Freddy Rubio,Jose Chavez and Manny Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers are Felix "Boy" Garcia, James Carrillo, Juan Bustamante, Isaac Acosta, Joe Reza, Diego Solano and Julio Chavez.

Belinda was born December 29, 1964 in Artesia, NM; the daughter of Timoteo Leyba and Agripina (Marquez) Leyba. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia.

On August 1, 1980 she was married to Lionel Valdez Vargas in Odessa, TX. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2008.

She was a housekeeper at hotels, a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic church and she loved sports.

Survivors include her parents Timoteo and Agripina Leyba of Artesia; In-Laws Arcadio and Marina Vargas of Artesia; daughters Sabrina Vargas Valencia and husband Ramiro of Artesia, Veronica Leyba Vargas and husband Andrew Juarez of Nebraska and Emery Jade Vargas of Artesia; brother Tim Leyba and wife Angie of Carlsbad, NM; sister Maggie Leyba Gomes and husband Peter of Artesia; grandchildren Mariah Osburn, Alisa Valencia, Amor Mia Olivos, Cielo Paige Valencia, Jo'Nah Nathaniel Vasquez and Julian Manuel Ochoa.
