Becky Joiner (Susan Rebecca Garner Joiner) was born December 9, 1955 in Carlsbad, NM to Sherman and Vivienne (Stroud) Garner. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1973, and from Lubbock Christian University in 1977. That same year she married the love of her life, Michael Joiner, with whom she spent 39 years. She earned her Master's Degree from New Mexico State University. She passed from this life unexpectedly August 9, 2016 in Artesia, NM. Her faith has now become sight.
Becky was the ultimate example of a Christian woman, mother, and wife. Her faith was exemplified by her actions. She was always concerned about others, always seeking what was best for her family, and she lived each day joyfully as she sought to do the work of her Heavenly Father.
Becky had a laugh that always brightened the day for everyone who heard it. The moment she saw her children or grandchildren, the laughter would begin. Her passion for life was contagious as she was always ready for a new adventure. She taught kindergarten for 25 years in Carlsbad and never lost her enthusiasm for teaching little children. Her classes were always filled with students whose parents had requested Mrs. Joiner be their child's teacher.
Whether it was at school or at church, Becky was a mentor to the younger women. They always knew that when Becky was visiting with them, they were the most important people to her at that moment.
Her husband, her three daughters, and her five grandchildren loved her immensely. She was the light of their lives. She considered her sons-in-law as her own boys.
Becky was a true example of a wonderful minister's wife. She and Michael were just finishing their 15th year with the Hermosa Church of Christ. Previously they served many years with the Sunset Church of Christ in Carlsbad. Her laughter and her beautiful alto voice reverberated throughout the church. We will all miss her singing.
Becky is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael of the family home; her three daughters LynnAnne Lowrie (Doug) of Midland TX, Lauren Rea (Taylor) of Dallas, TX, Lindsey Joy (Kolbyn) of St. Louis, MO; her five grandchildren Aiden Joy, Haley Joy, Coley Joy, Athen Lowrie and Kendrick Lowrie, and special niece and nephew Riley and Hutton Wright. She is also survived by her mother Vivienne Garner of Carlsbad, her two sisters Beth Brown (Eldon), and Teri Hooper (Dan). Her father and mother-in-law Lloyd and Bonnie Joiner. Brothers and sisters-in-law Steve and Linda Joiner, Dennis and Roxanne Wright, and five other nieces and nephews.
