Barbara Mejia

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15 at Terpening & Son Mortuary Chapel for Barbara H. Mejia of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Mejia, 77, passed away on August 10, 2017 in Artesia.

Monty Leavell will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Hagerman cemetery. Pallbearers are Eric Mejia, Ralph Mejia, Adam Solares, Albert Reyes, Luis Reyes and Andrew Sena.

Barbara was born on March 5, 1940 in DeWitt, Arkansas; the daughter of Ralph "Bud" Foster and Virginia "Virgie" (Baugus) Foster. On July 25, 1961 she married Ysmael "Smiley" Mejia in Winter Haven, California. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2013.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, being outdoors, horses, photography and Native American art.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Felicia N. Mejia, and brother Stanley Foster.

Survivors include her sons Eric Mejia and wife Terry of Navarre, FL and Ralph Mejia of Artesia; brother Ralph Foster of Jackson, MS; grandchildren Ashton Montgomery and husband John, Audrey Mejia, Jessica Solares and husband Aaron and Adam Solares; great-grandchildren Harrison, Vivian and Weston.
