Barbara Joyce Bedingfield, 83, beloved Mother, Grandmother, also affectionately known as "Dommy," and Great-Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on December 8, 2020. She entered this world on August 2, 1937 in Roswell, New Mexico, born to M. M. (Mun) Havens and Eula Priest Havens. They preceded her in death.
She grew up on a ranch in Pinon, N.M. and later moved to Hope, N.M. where she met Joe Lynn Harrison. They were married on July 10, 1955 and later moved to Artesia after he finished serving in the United States Army. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1979.
She is survived by their three children; daughter Debbie Chavez and husband, Joe of Artesia; son Michael Harrison and wife, Connie of Pinon; and son Kim Harrison and wife, Judy of Lake Arthur.
In 1980 she married Curtis Wayne Bedingfield in Pinon, N.M. and they resided in Artesia. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2010. She is survived by her stepchildren, Cindy Bedingfield, Curtis Bedingfield and Della Bedingfield.
She is also survived by her brother, James Havens and wife, Nedra of Pinon, NM; grandchildren, Staci Guy and husband, Reggie of Lubbock, TX; Erin Earl and husband, Jarrod of Lubbock, TX; Justin Harrison of Pinon, NM; Shana Olivas and husband, Adrian of Artesia; Hayley Harrison of Artesia; and Hayden Harrison of Artesia.
Other survivors include her nine great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as "Hickey."
She is also preceded in death by sister Shirley Havens; brothers Richard Havens and Buddy Havens; nephew Ray Dale Havens; and great-grandson Jaylon Earl.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, the preferred way to honor her memory is to "pay it forward." Please find a way to help someone in need this holiday season.
