Avis Fletcher

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, at West Main Baptist Church for Avis Jean Fletcher of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Fletcher, 73, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. PRev. Mark Robinson will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Letcher, Jeff Letcher, Lane Fletcher, Christopher Fletcher, Zach Fletcher, Seth Fletcher, and Tyson Fletcher. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. PMrs. Fletcher was born June 13, 1934 in Mountainair, N.M.; the daughter of Sydney Everett Taylor and Nina Ailene Lester Taylor. POn March 23, 1955 she was married to Loy Gene Fletcher in Lovington, N.M. She came to Artesia in 1960 from Carlsbad, N.M. PShe was a homemaker and a member of the West Main Baptist Church. PAvis was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, a daughter, and a son. PSurvivors include her husband Loy Fletcher of the family home; daughter Patti Letcher and husband Randy of Artesia; sons Tommy Fletcher of Artesia, and Marty Fletcher of Artesia; sisters Susie Maldon and husband Lynn of Artesia, and Glenda Staffel and husband R.B. of Carlsbad; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
