Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, at First Baptist Church for Ava Lee Hegwer, 507 S. 15th St., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Hegwer, 85, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 in Artesia, New Mexico.

Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Morgan, Lynn Mermis, Dean Palma, Danny Palma, Tom Hegwer, and Braeden Morgan.

Mrs. Hegwer was born July 17, 1922 in Charlie, Texas; the daughter of Carl William Boyce and Hattie A. Wright Boyce.

She came to Artesia in 1927 from Texas.

On April 23, 1946 she was married to Paul Hegwer in Carlsbad, NM.

She was a receptionist for Navajo Refining. A member of First Baptist Church, and past President of Desk and Derrick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her husband Paul Hegwer of the family home; son Ernie Hegwer and wife Sandra of Hobbs, N.M.; daughters Paulette Palma and husband Ed of Las Cruces, N.M., Connie Mermis and husband Lelan of Midland, Texas, and Jo Morgan and husband Doug of Artesia; brother Robert Dean Boyce and wife Betty Lou of Artesia; sisters Linda Bland and husband Don of Hobbs, and Billie Haynes and husband Phil of Del Rio, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
