Aurora Torres

Funeral services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Aurora L. Torres of Artesia.

Mrs. Torres, 97, died Monday, February 22, 2016 at Good Life in Artesia, New Mexico.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Johnny Lopez, Danny Torres, Damian Torres, Gary Torres, Donny Torres and Armando Lopez.

There will be visitation on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at the church, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Aurora was born December 26, 1918 in Loving, NM; the daughter of Juan Salinas Lopez and Refugia (Campos) Lopez.

On November 10, 1939 she was married to Dave Y. Torres in Roswell, NM. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1985.

She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, San Jose Society, Eucharistic Minister and Good Samaritan Helper Club. Aurora loved line dancing and traveled competing in the NM Senior Olympics.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 3 brothers and a son Danny Torres.

Survivors include her sons David Torres and wife Frances of Artesia, Joe Torres and wife Corrina of Artesia and Donald Torres of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Gina Torres, Danny Torres, Damian Torres and wife Lori, Gary Torres and wife Teena, Donny Torres, Joseph Araujo, Michael Araujo and wife Christi; great-grandchild Joseph Araujo III.
