Augustine Miranda

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Augustine A. Miranda, Sr., 801 W. Cleveland Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Miranda, 79, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Javier Miranda, Javier Lujan, Alanzo Ramos, Manuel Ramos, Jerome Miranda, and Juan Ramos. Honorary pallbearers will be Monique Miranda, Marissa Miranda, Vanessa Miranda, Javen Orosco, Elijah Gutierrez, Jordan Gutierrez, Cameron Miranda and Kylie Miranda.

A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.

Mr. Miranda was born May 28, 1931 in Redford, Texas the son of Nestor Miranda and Ruperta Arriola Miranda.

On November 22, 1972 he was married to Margie Huertas in Artesia, N.M. He came to Artesia in 1966 from Kermit, Texas.

He was a farm laborer and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Augustine Miranda Jr., a brother Juan Correa, sisters Maria Gallegos, Paulina Saenz, Adela Ramos, and Maria DeLaLuz Urias.

Survivors include his wife Margie Miranda of the family home sons Manuel Miranda and wife Norma of Artesia, and Jesse Miranda of San Antonio, Texas daughter Christina Miranda of Artesia sister Martina Lujan of Odessa, Texas 6 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.
