Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, at West Main Baptist Church for Arvil Joe Reynolds of Artesia, New Mexico. PMr. Reynolds, 94, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. PDr. Mark Robinson, Walt Isaacs amp; Rev. Jason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Honorary ministers will be Stanley White, Bobby Fuller, Chief L.E. Lawson, Rusty Smith, Paul Klapfer, Ken Robinson, Tommy Lawson, Joseph Tillery, Bob Bacon, Sammie Ray, and Herb Burkstrom. Pallbearers will be Harmon Bush, Tim Goodwin, Jack Butler, Jim Bristow, Dan Coger amp; Rusty McKee. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Denton, Randall Ruddick, Virgil Johnson, Dr. Johnny Moreno, Stan Menefee, Ray Taylor, Harvey Howard, Warren Nell, and Dean Robinson. Visitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Reynolds was born October 17, 1911 in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma; the son of John Leo Reynolds and Mary Mollie Stanford Reynolds. PHe married Delia Little on Oct 17, 1935 in Steedman, Ok. They came to Artesia in 1947. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1975. On November 27, 1976 he married Ima Dale Hughes in Carlsbad, N.M. PArvil was a member and was ordained as a deacon in 1956 at West Main Baptist Church. He graduated from East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma and earned his Masters' degree in Education from Sul Ross in Alpine, Texas. He was in the school system for 40 years with 12 years in Oklahoma, 23 years as principal of the elementary school at Atoka, and 5 years as principal of Central Elementary School retiring in 1975. For many years after retiring he volunteered with the Pecos Valley Rescue at Panama, southwest of Hope, Meals on Wheels, and Sivells Christian Camp in Mayhill, N.M. PArvil was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife Ima Dale Reynolds of the family home; daughters Louise Baker amp; husband Kenneth of Canyon, Texas, and Jolene Goodwin amp; husband Charles of Carlsbad; step-son Samuel Dale Hughes amp; wife Jennifer of Artesia; step-daughter Judith Joann Koenig amp; husband Robert Randal of Capitan, N.M.; sisters-in-law Edith Reynolds of Allen, Oklahoma, Mary Reynolds of Quinton, Oklahoma, and Kathryn Reynolds of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother-in-law Benny Chadd of Marlow, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren including Kenet Richardson and husband Clay of Olton, Texas, Kim Campbell and husband Ron of Canyon, Texas, Sharla Snider and husband Richie who is currently serving our country in Iraq, and Timothy Goodwin of Carlsbad; and ten great-grandchildren.
