Arturo Chavez

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 18 at Terpening Son Mortuary for Arturo Salome Chavez, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Chavez, 50, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 in Artesia. Jim McFarland will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Chavez was born March 20, 1952 in Barrancos de Guadalupe, Mexico; the son of Jesus Chavez and Nieves Venegas Chavez. He came to Artesia in 1963 from Ojinaga, Mexico. On February 18, 1996 he was married to Lenora Lee in Artesia. He was a farm laborer and attended the Jehovahs Witnesses Church. He was preceded in death by his father; and by a sister Siria Chavez. Survivors include his wife Lenora Chavez of the family home; mother Nieves Chavez of Artesia; a daughter Yesenia Chavez of Artesia; sons Gabriel Chavez and wife Jennifer of Dallas, Texas and Rene Chavez of Artesia; step-children Shonda Keams of Artesia, Krystal Keams Artesia, and Grant Keams of Artesia; brothers Luis R. Chavez and wife Virginia of Artesia, Alfredo Chavez and wife Mary of Brownfield, Texas, Oscar Batte of Alpine, Calif., and Javier Chavez of Midway, N.M.; sisters Rosa Cervantez and husband Benito of Fort Stockton, Texas, Maria Elena Wesson of Artesia, and Elida Lintz and husband Bob of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
