Armando Perez

July 27, 1951 — September 1, 2022

Services are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, September 7 at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Armando Perez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Perez, 71, died on September 1, 2022 at his home in Artesia, surrounded by his loved ones.

Pastor Bobby Argo will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Perez, Adam Perez, Zach Perez, Cedric Perez, Samule Chavez, Nick Garcia, Angelo Valencia and Jakobe Ochoa. Honorary pallbearers are Don Daniels, Joe Galindo and Vince Bustamante.

Armando was born on July 27, 1951 in Artesia; the son of Enrique Perez and Juanita Murillo Perez. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Erminda (Mindy) Morales, brother-in-law Benny Morales and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Armando retired from Navajo Refining after 36 years and tried to pursue his passion of hunting and fishing and just enjoying the outdoors. He also said he wanted to make up for lost time with family and wanted to help mend relationships. Unfortunately, the cancer he had limited his ability to hunt the way he used to but he still enjoyed a drive out to his favorite secret spot to clean it up and return it to its natural beautiful normal state with little evidence that humans had even been there. Armando was not very talkative unless he was talking to another hunter or fisherman with which he could carry on conversations for hours. His form of exercise was walking and it always took him a little longer because he would pick up any trash he saw along the way. He often carried a trash bag and gloves for this.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Perez; sons Aaron Perez and wife Marion, Lorenzo Guzman, and Jon Perez; daughters Laura Perez and Sara Guzman; a brother Rolando "Rocky" Perez; a sister Diana Coronado and husband LeRoy; uncle Gonzalo (Gonzo) Perez; grandchildren Cassandra Perez, Zachary Perez, Cedric Perez, SyAnn Perez, Jakobe Ochoa, Brooke Ochoa, Naomi Guzman, Angelo Valencia, Marcelino Isaac Guzman, Madison Perez, Henry Perez, Lillie Perez; great-granchildren Emma Cortez and Devin Cortez; niece Erica Garcia and husband Nick Garcia who he mentioned how much he appreciated the way they helped to care for him and felt they were his children along with their children: Mireya Elizondo, Jailene Chavez, and Samule Chavez. Additional survivors are nieces Elidia Bolanos and husband Wilson and their daughters Kailyn and Dorian; niece Kat Hastings who along with Lucas, her husband, has continuously offered help, advice and love. He really appreciated this and shared his "secret" camping and hunting spot with Lucas. Other survivors are nephews Adam Perez, Michael Anthony Perez, Eric Muller and Gabriel Muller and their families and niece Emily Garcia and numerous cousins who had close family ties growing up.

The family appreciates the care given by the hospice staff and also by cousin Dr. Joe Salgado, who we feel helped an early diagnosis of this cancer 10 years ago which helped to extend Armando's life. The love that has been shown during these last few months on this earth has been a tremendous blessing.
