Arlene Caudle

Services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at First Presbyterian Church for Arlene Caudle, 1014 S. Ward, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Caudle, 88, died Friday morning, July 25, 2008, at Landsun Homes in Carlsbad, N.M. Rev. Cathy Anderson will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday. Arlene was born March 11, 1920 in Paola, Kansas; the daughter of True Forest Bazel and Mabel Alice Gentile Bazel. She married Ben Caudle, Jr. on Dec. 24, 1939. The family came to Artesia in 1947 from Coffeyville, Kansas. He preceded her in death Aug. 25, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by a sister Iola Mae Ditto. She retired after 28 years as a sales clerk for Anne's Cards and Gifts and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include daughters Rita Plattor and husband Jerry of Artesia, and Candy Merritt and husband Ron of Lubbock, Texas; brother True Bazel and wife Marilyn of Ava, Missouri; grandchildren Shelley Lachmann and husband Ken of Cape Coral, Fla., J. J. Plattor and wife Kathy of Round Rock, Texas, Chris Merritt and wife Kathy of Fort Worth, Texas, and Craig Merritt of Lubbock; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, VistaCare Hospice Foundation, or Landsun Homes.
