Aramita Montes

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Aramita Perez Montes, 806 Champ Clark Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Montes, 76, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at Landsun Health Service Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Burial will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Scott Ramirez, Maximo Carrasco, Armando Perez, Ryan Johnson, Isarel Montes, Jesus Montes, Luis Perez, and Oscar Molina. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Montes was born April 5, 1933 in Marfa, Texas; the daughter of Liborio Perez and Paula Campos Perez. She came to Artesia in 1946 from Marfa, Texas. On Aug. 15, 1955 she was married to George Montes in Artesia, NM. She was a presser for the dry cleaners and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Survivors include her husband George Montes of the family home; son Hector Montes of Artesia; daughter Lila Lewis of Artesia; brother Gonzalo Perez of Artesia; sisters Maria Cruz Galindo of Artesia, Natividad Ramirez of Artesia, Mariana Carrasco of Artesia, and Rosa Molina of Hobbs, N.M.; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
