Apolonio Sanchez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 5, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Apolonio Wero Sanchez, 708 James Ave. Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Sanchez, 89, died Monday, November 3, 2003 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico. Fr. Paul Murtagh will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Abel Florez, Luis Florez, Oscar Florez, Edward Florez, Leo Acosta, and Rudy Acosta. Mr. Sanchez was born February 9, 1914 in Barstow, Texas; the son of Alfredo Sanchez and Margarita Venavides Sanchez. He came to Artesia in 1926 from Barstow. He was a farm laborer and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A rosary is also scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Survivors include brothers Leonardo Sanchez of Bakersfield, Calif., and Faustino Sanchez of Bakersfield; sister Ramona Sigala of Juarez, Mexico; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
