Annetta Beekman

March 22, 1926 — December 6, 2010

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 13 at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia for former Artesia resident Annetta G. Beekman of Albuquerque, N.M.

Mrs. Beekman, 84, died Monday, December 6, 2010 in Albuquerque.

She was born to Harold and Lilly Grace Wonder Cuykendall on March 22, 1926 in College Station, Texas.

She married Robert Leon Beekman in Wichita Falls, Texas on February 25, 1944. She went on to get her nursing degree in July of 1946 at Wichita General School of Nursing while Leon finished his service in the Navy. Their young family lived in Texas and Oklahoma, then settled in Artesia, N.M. in 1964. She spent many years as an RN at Artesia General Hospital, her favorite department being Obstetrics where she assisted many births. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents two sisters and a grandson Ronnie Beekman.

After Leons death she was a diabetic counselor at Artesia General, then lived with Kay Gillis and family at Red Rose Manor in Albuquerque and Ft. Worth. She returned to New Mexico in 2006 where she resided with Angela Johnson and family at Vermont Manor in Albuquerque. She received excellent care from their staff and family members and felt at home there. Many thanks to both facilities and to her nurse Matt Padilla at Ambercare Hospice.

Survivors include her children and spouses Robert and Dorothy Beekman of Kingwood, Texas David and Kathy Beekman of Kernersville, N.C. Len and Donan Estill of Tijeras, N.M. and Susan Stach of Indianapolis, Ind. her brother Lyle Cuykendall of Honolulu, Hawaii and her grandchildren Brian Kilpatrick, Chris and Katie Beekman, Matt, Stephanie and Dan Stach and Morgan Estill.

Mom and Dad were married for 33 years, and finally get to be tegether again after 33 years apart we know they are dancing.
