Anna Cunnyngham

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Blue Ridge, Texas for Anna Marie Cunnyngham of Blue Ridge.

Mrs. Cunnyngham, 91, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2009 in Wills Point, Texas.

Rev. Johnnie Jones and Rev. Brian Hawkins will officiate at the services with interment at the Pike Cemetery in Pike, Texas. Pallbearers will be her sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Blue Ridge Baptist Church.

Anna was born January 19, 1918 in Weston, Texas; the sixth of eleven children born to Arthur Vandagriff and Allie Mae Hendrickson Vandagriff. She was a 1936 graduate of Leonard Texas High School and graduated from Mary-Hardin Baylor College in 1940 with a degree in Elementary Education. Read it in her own words.

On August 18, 1945, she married Horice Ivyl Cunnyngham in Leonard, Texas. The couple resided in Pike until his death in 2001.

She taught school in Orangeville, Texas, was principal at Asa Walker, Texas, taught at Buckner Orphan's Home in Dallas, and retired from Blue Ridge Public Schools. She was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church where she taught the Ethel women's adult Sunday School class. She enjoyed reading, gardening and canning and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Friendship Club.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, a son Sidney Cunnyngham, a son-in-law Ron Eubanks, and by ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include children Penny Eubanks of Kaufman, Texas, Allen Cunnynghan and wife Cathy of Blue Ridge, Nancy Terpening and husband Jerry of Artesia, Hal Cunnyngham and wife Cynthia of Richmond, Va.; a daughter-in-law Karen Carlson and husband Gary of Highland Village, Texas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
