Anita Gonzales

Services are scheduled at 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for former longtime Artesia resident Anita L. Gonzales of Albuquerque, New Mexico.


Mrs. Gonzales, 91, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Albuquerque.


Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Reynaldo Gonzales, Jr., Gary Cabesuela, Rodney Valverde, Carlos Garcia, Jr., Michael Santillan, and Jimmy Santillan.


A vigil service is also planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.


Mrs. Gonzales was born April 5, 1918 in Marfa, Texas. On Oct. 27, 1935 she was married to Erineo L. Gonzales in Artesia. He preceded her in death Oct. 23, 2001. She was also preceded in death sons Eddie Gonzales and Jackie Gonzales, and by a greatgranddaughter Adriana Suzi Fresquez Valverde.


She was a lifelong resident of Artesia before moving to Albuquerque in 2002.


She was a housekeeper and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.


Survivors include daughters Nancy Santillan, Belen G. Trujillo, Connie Valverde and husband Abel, and Yolanda Garcia and husband Carlos all of Albuquerque sons Raynaldo Gonzales and Bobby Gonzales both of Albuquerque a brother Crispin Lara of El Paso, Texas 12 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
