Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Amparo Marquez Gurrola of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Gurrola, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Amparo was born July 19, 1939 in Chalchiuites Zacatecas Mexico; the daughter of Pedro Marquez and Maria (Luna) Marquez.
On October 27, 1957 she was married to Humberto Gurrola in Francisco I Madero, Mexico. They came to Artesia in 1960 from Eastland, Texas. He preceded her in death November 23, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and a brother.
Amparo was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting in the company of her pets, Simba, Sugar, and ChaCha.
Survivors include her sons Roy Gurrola and wife Odelia of Katy, TX, Hector Gurrola and wife Lucy Maria of Las Cruces, NM, Dale Gurrola and wife Corina of Artesia, NM, and Humberto Gurrola, Jr. and wife Juanita of Artesia, NM; daughters Delia Gonzales and husband Victor of Las Cruces, NM, Rebecca Gurrola of Artesia, NM, and Lucy Gurrola of Las Cruces, NM; brothers Ramon Marquez of Lake Arthur, NM, and Felipe Marquez, Julio Marquez, and Pablo Marquez all of Mexico; sister Esther Velo of Lake Arthur; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
