Amelia Scroggin

Services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Hermosa Drive Church of Christ for Amelia Grace Scroggin of Artesia, New Mexico.

Grace Scroggin died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Artesia General Hospital.

Michael Joiner will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be J.T. Jackson, Al Deans, Mike Deans, Jimmy Mason, Gary Conklin, Doug Neel, Larry Mason and Ronnie Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Deans, Homer Mahan, Kirk McCarter, Dean Robinson and Don Calvert.

Grace Scroggin was born December 29, 1924 in Morrilton, Arkansas the daughter of Gillie B. Brown and Artie Hamilton Brown.

On March 14, 1945 she was married to Jay K. Scroggin in Morrilton, Arkansas. They came to Artesia from Carlsbad in 1952.

She worked at the U.S. Geological Survey, Valley Savings and Loan, Bearing Service and Supply, and Marshs.

She was a member of Hermosa Drive Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jay K. Scroggin, her parents, brother Ralph Hamilton Brown, sisters Essie Geraldine, Ada Ruth and Ruby Nell.

Survivors include sons Jim Scroggin and wife Kim of Artesia, and Tommy Scroggin and wife Donna of Artesia grandsons Scott Scroggin and wife Amy and Tyler Scroggin and wife Shasta all of Artesia, granddaughters Lara Conklin and husband Derek of Lubbock, Texas and Staci Scroggin of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by two greatgranddaughters Kaelyn and Paityn Conklin of Lubbock, Texas.
