Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sep. 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Amelia D. Hernandez of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Hernandez, 83, died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.
Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with interment at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and greatgrandsons Fred Salcido, Jr., Alvino Lopez, Geoffrey Gonzales, Steven Salcido, Alyx Terrazas, and Izaiah Guajaca. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Hernandez was born July 10, 1927 in Lakewood, New Mexico the daughter of Baldomero Duran and Petra Hernandez Valencia Duran.
On Sept. 1, 1943 she was married to Jesus Solis Hernandez in Carlsbad, N.M. Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez settled in California and returned to Artesia in 1962. Her husband preceded her in death August 30, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents by a grandson, a soninlaw, three brothers, and one greatgreatgrand daughter.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Survivors include sons Benny Hernandez and wife Valentina of Odessa, Texas, Jesus Hernandez, Jr. and wife Patricia of Artesia, and Fernando Hernandez and wife Norma of Chula Vista, Calif. daughters Angie Rodriguez of Tulare, Calif., Connie Salcido and husband Fred, Sr. of Dallas, Texas, and Dolores Lopez and husband Arthur of Artesia brothers Ray Duran of Los Angeles, Calif., Robert Duran of Tulare, and Manuel Duran of Tulare sisters Faye Duran, Phyliss Salmon, and Minnie Duran of all of Tulare 19 grandchildren two stepgrandchildren 44 greatgrandchildren nine stepgreatgrandchildren and 24 greatgreatgrandchildren.
