Services are scheduled at 9:30 am. Friday, August 1, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Amador S. Herrera, 1006 S. Roselawn Ave, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Herrera, 84, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Calderon, John Calderon Jr., Eli Herrera, Tony Garcia, Mark Calderon, and Agustin Torres. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 am. Thursday Mr. Herrera was born September 12, 1923 in Presidio, Texas; the son of Natividad Herrera and Carmen Sandoval Herrera. He came to Artesia in 1930 from Presidio, Texas. In April 1967 he was married to Justa Aguilar in Mexico. He was a farm laborer and equipment operator at AAGA, member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Cursillistas, Santo Nombre, and the W.P.A. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a son, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife Justa Herrera of the family home; son Frank Herrera and wife Jovita of Artesia; daughters Manuela Calderon and husband Juan of Artesia, and Lucia Hernandez and husband Esteban of Plains, Texas; step-daughter Maria M. Ruiz and husband Lonnie of Artesia; brother Luis Herrera of Michigan; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
