Alvaro Franco, Sr.

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 7 at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Alvaro Compian Franco, Sr., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Franco, 85, died Monday, December 3, 2001 at his home. Pastor Carlos Rivera will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Francos sons. A prayer service is also scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Terpening Son Mortuary with Pastor Abelardo Bolanos officiating. Mr. Franco was born April 16, 1916 in Redford, Texas; the son of Pablo Franco and Rosa Compian Franco. On April 16, 1936, he was married to Eva Cortez in Mapimi, Durango, Mexico. He came to Artesia in 1949 from Fort Stockton, Texas. He was a farm laborer and member and deacon of the Spanish Assembly of God; and memeber of the Head Start Grandparents program. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife Eva Franco of the family home; sons Willie Franco of Artesia, Alvaro Franco Jr. of Artesia, Frank C. Franco of San Antonio, Texas, Javier C. Franco of Artesia, Pete C. Franco of Artesia, and Raul C. Franco of Artesia; daughters Rosa Guerra of Toppenish, Wash., Rita Lugo of Tucson, Arizona, Elva Luna of Carlsbad, N.M., and Vangie Kon of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother Ishmael Franco of McAllen, Texas; 35 grandchildren 42 great-grandchildren four great-great-grandchildren.
