Al married the love of his life, Ann, on October 24, 1969 after returning home from the US Marine Corps where he served as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War.

He began his career alongside his wife as business owners of Al's Dump Truck Service and Backhoe Services Inc in 1986. He began with only one dump truck and built a thriving business that flourished for 37 years. He had a passion for dirt work and skillfully taught his sons how to operate equipment.

He also loved riding horses, a passion he passed down to his children. Especially his daughter, nicknaming her "trick rider". Al also shared this love for horses with his granddaughter MiRaena. Even as he got older, he loved to help her brush, feed, and bond with her by sharing his horse knowledge.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Ann Franco, his sons Joe Franco and wife Ida, Greg Franco, Abram Franco, his daughter Brenda Ramirez and husband Raul. His grandchildren MiRaena Munoz and husband Matthew, Arianna, Diego, D'Anna, Kandice, and Greg Franco II, Brittney Tavera and husband Jason II, Krystal Morales and husband Jose. His great-grandchildren Xavier, Dez, Ivy, Jaedyn and last but not least Aria Rose who lit up his world. His brothers Raul, Pete, Frank, and Javier Franco.
