Services are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 28 at Hermosa Drive Church of Christ for Alma Means, 711 W. Castleberry Road, Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Means, 82, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Artesia General Hospital. PMichael Joiner will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Casabonne, Alden Elkins, Steve Lewis, Johnny Bell, Ernest Ray Harwell, and Joel Pate. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Warren Nell, Dean Robinson, Bill Rhodes, and Jerry Cox. Visitation at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. PAlma was born December 29, 1926 in Post, Texas, the daughter of Warren Tidwell and Eunice Chaney Tidwell. She was a lifelong resident of the Pinon, N.M. and Guadalupe Mountain areas. POn June 2, 1946 she was married to Preston Means in Artesia. PShe drove a school bus for Penasco School for 28 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ and volunteered at the Hermosa Drive Church of Christ Outreach Center. PAlma was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers Warren Tidwell, Jr. and Bill Tidwell, and by a sister Margie Lee Tidwell.
Survivors include her husband Preston Means of the family home; daughters Judy Yates and husband Jerry of Artesia, and Peggy Miller of Artesia; a son-in-law Johnny Miller of Artesia; brothers Charlie Tidwell of Fort Worth, Texas, Fred Tidwell of Alamogordo, N.M., Dan Tidwell of El Paso, Texas, Jerry Tidwell of Arkansas, and Ronnie Tidwell of Fort Worth; a sister Elizabeth Broocke of Artesia; grandchildren Jean Yates, Melissa Jorren, Shelly Andrus, and Preston Miller; and six great-grandchildren.
