Graveside services are scheduled for 11a.m. Monday March 14, at Woodbine Cemetery for Alma Ruth Ezell
Mrs. Ezell, 82, passed away on March 11, 2016 in her home.
Leslie Hendrix and Nolan Frederick will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be nephew Jason Hendrix, grandsons Cory Frederick, Tanner Ezell, Travis DeMerritt, and family friends George Sprouse, and Mitch Bagwell.
Ruth was born March 18, 1933 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Lewis Hendrix and Elsie Hendrix. She later moved to Artesia, where she met and married Jessy James Ezell on August 1, 1953.
She was employed by Artesia Public Schools working in the cafeteria for 25 years before retiring in 1993. She also volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary for during that same time. In her later years she enjoyed the company of her children, grand children, great grand children and friends.
She enjoyed spending time listening to her husband's bluegrass band Family Tradition for many years. She loved to go shopping, and especially enjoyed visiting with her family and friends - never meeting a stranger. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who cared for others and always sought to see the good in people.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jessy Ezell; sons Jim Ezell and Rusty Ezell; daughter Jessica Mayfield; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; two brothers; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include brothers Leslie Hendrix and wife Francis and Leon Hendrix and wife Donna all of Artesia, NM; sisters Kay Huffmon and husband Elton of Roswell, NM; Phyllis Singleton of Carlsbad, NM; sons Thomas Ezell and wife Debbie, and Ray Ezell both of Artesia; daughter Carolyn Frederick and husband Donald of Artesia; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Catalyst Church 1107 S. Watson Blvd. Artesia, NM 88210.
