Alice Shelton

July 16, 1922 — February 18, 2004

On February l8, after a long illness, Alice Irene Gentry Shelton went home. Alice and Ernest moved to Artesia in 1977 where they embrace their community and West Main Baptist Church friends as home. They moved to Farmington in 2001 to be nearer their children. She quit school during the depression as the oldest of 9 children to help at home. She watched kids, picked cotton, and sat with water wells at night. Her only desire in life was to take care of her family and that she did. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. Many lives were changed and blessed because she lived. Alice was born July 16, 1922 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to George Frank Franklin Gentry and Essie Irene Booker Gentry. She married Ernest Clifton Shelton on January 19, 1946 in Roswell, N.M. As she passed from this world she was met in heaven by her parents, 4 brothers and one sister. Alice is survived by her husband, Ernest, children Debra Lisenbee and husband Joe of Farmington, Gary Shelton of Grand Junction, Colorado and Randy Shelton and wife Kerri Ann of Blanding, Utah, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 1 brother, 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews which she all greatly loved. Services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2l, with Pastor Mark Robinson and Pastor John Preston officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Brewer, Lee Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute Street, Farmington, New Mexico.
