Alfredo Chavez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Alfredo Chavez, of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Chavez, 75, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center in Artesia, New Mexico. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alfredo Chavez, Jr., Javier Chavez, Rene Chavez, Meny Chavez, Fernando Chavez, Ramon Chavez and honorary pallbearers will be Adalberto Chavez, Jorge Santiesteban, Alonso Santiesteban, and Nacho Navarrette. A rosary is also planned at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Our Lady of Grace Church. Mr. Chavez was born July 13, 1930 in Nvo. Casas Grandez, Chihuahua, Mexico; the son of Isidoro Chavez and Dora Valles Chavez. On Oct. 1, 1951 he was married to Alicia Sandoval Chavez in Nvo. Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. He came to Artesia in 1978 from Mexico. He was a Rancher and member of Our Lady of Grace Church. Survivors include wife Alicia Chavez of the family home, sons; Alfredo Chavez, Jr. and wife Betty of Artesia, Javier Chavez and wife Gloria of Artesia, Rene Chavez and wife Karla of Artesia, Meny Chavez and wife Lisa of Artesia, daughters; Rosa E. Chavez and husband Miguel of Artesia, Lupe Santiesteban and husband Jorge of Nvo. Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, Veronica Zubia and husband Luis of Artesia, brothers; Tomas Chavez of Nvo. Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, Jose Chavez of Nvo. Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, Edvardo Chavez of Los Angeles, Calif., sisters; Josefina Chavez of El Paso, TX, Paula Chavez of El Paso, TX, Margarita Chavarria of Nogales Sonora, Mexico, Dora A. Arciaga of Pomona, Calif., 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Carlos Chavez, two sisters, Elvira Chavez, Eva Ramirez, two grandchildren, Jaime Chavez, Lizeth Santiesteban, and a great-grandchild Jacob Lopez.
