Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, N.M. for Alberto Araujo Sr., 200 Broadway, Lake Arthur. Mr. Araujo, 87, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Lovington Good Samaritan Center in Lovington, New Mexico. Burial will be at Lake Arthur Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. A rosary is also scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. Araujo was born October 7, 1919 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the son of Victor Araujo and Cecilia Hernandez Araujo. On Oct. 30, 1940 he was married to Manuela Gonzalez in Roswell, N.M. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a Custodian for the Lake Arthur Schools and a farmer. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and a past city councilor for Lake Arthur. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons, a daughter, 4 brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife Manuela Araujo of Lake Arthur; step-mother Angelita Araujo of Artesia; sons Albert Araujo of Artesia, and David Araujo of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters Anna Marie Armijo of Hobbs, N.M., Consuelo Trujillo of Albuquerque, and Delia Perez of Midland, Texas; sisters Eulalia Rodriguez of Artesia, and Juana Sisneros of Midland; half-brothers Victor Araujo of Del Rio, Texas, Manuel Araujo of Dallas, Texas, and Alvino Araujo of Artesia; half-sisters Elsie Bustamante of Artesia, Rosie Araujo of Dallas, Carmen Guzman of Midland, and Josie Araujo of Dallas; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
