Memorial services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, at Clark Memorial United Methodist Church for Al LeCompte of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. LeCompte, 78, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at his home. Rev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at Woodbine Cemetery. Mr. LeCompte was born October 27, 1928 in New Britain, Connecticut; the son of Joseph LeCompte and Roseanna LaFlanne LeCompte. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On July 24, 1948 he was married to Phyllis Lavigne in Ludow, Massachusetts. He came to Artesia in 1978 and worked as a Carpenter. He was of the Catholic denomination. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Carol Ann LeCompte; son Alan Raymond LeCompte; and son-in-law Jerry Lee Jewell. Survivors include his wife Phyllis LeCompte of the family home; daughters Dottie Fay of Artesia, Tina Roncalli of Artesia, Lynne Jewell of Artesia, and Linda Dobbins and husband Robert of Artesia; son Phillip LeCompte of Artesia; two brothers; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
