Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May. 9, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Alfredo Campos Lopez of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Lopez, 98, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell, New Mexico.
Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Gutierrez, Jr., David Ramirez, Janessa Galindo, Demetrius Moreno, Dominic Moreno, and Derrick Dameron.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. A rosary will be at church Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Alfredo was born September 1, 1915 in Carlsbad, N.M. the son of Juan Lopez and Refugia Campos Lopez.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. During his service, he was stationed in Central Europe and was awarded the American Theatre Victory Medal, EuropeanAfricanMiddle Eastern Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.
On Aug. 29, 1947 he was married to Consuelo Alvarado in Artesia. They were longtime Artesia residents.
Alfredo later became a barber and was the OwnerOperator of his own shop for 69 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, a crucillista, the 3rd order of St Francis, and an American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents sisters Antonia Vargas and Amelia Valezuela and brothers Pedro C. Lopez and Alvino C. Lopez.
Survivors include his daughters Veronica Betty Lopez of Artesia, and Delma Moreno and husband Manuel of Artesia sister Aurora Torres of Artesia grandchildren Richard A. Gutierrez, Jr., Iyona Ramirez, Adrian Gutierrez, Sara Dameron, Dominic Moreno, and Demetrius Moreno 9 greatgrandchildren and 11 greatgreatgrandchildren.
