Memorial mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Antonia Grado Gallegos of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Gallegos, 76, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at San Pedro Nursing Facility in Artesia.

Fr. V.J. will officiate at the service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Antonia was born on May 10, 1941 to Trinidad Grado and Fernanda (Bejarano) Grado in Redford, Texas. She was a longtime Artesia resident after moving here from Texas as a little girl.

On October 30, 1958 she was married to Benjamin L. Gallegos in Artesia. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter Balbina Fernandez; sister Luz Ruiz; and brother Trinidad Grado.

Antonia was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and her job was being a "Mom". In her spare time she enjoyed music and dancing and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters Belia Hernandez and husband Alex of Avondale, AZ, Olga Galindo and husband Marcelino of Artesia, and Nora Perez and husband Luis of Artesia; sons Benjamin Gallegos and Jesse Gallegos both of Artesia; sisters Elva Reza of Avondale and Nieves Ruiz of Artesia; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

    I AM SO SADDENED. WORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN THE AMOUNT OF LOVE I HAD FOR MY TIA. I WASNT ABLE TO VISIT OFTEN BUT THE TIMES I DID SEE HER SHE PUT LASTING MEMORIES IN MY HEART SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL. SUCH A SWEET , CARING AND LOVING LADY. THE HEAVENS HAVE TRUELY RECIEVED AN ANGEL. IM GOING TO MISS HER DEARLY. MY FONDEST MEMORY OF HER IS WHEN I WOULD SPEND SUMMERS WITH MY GRANDMOTHER LUZ AND EVERY WEEKEND HER..TIO BENJAMIN AND MY GRANDPARENTS WERE ALWAYS GOING TO DANCES AND I REMEMBER BOTH OF THEM LOOKING SO BEAUTIFUL..THEY WOULD GRAB ME AND WED START DANCING IN THE KITCHEN. OH WHAT I WOULD DO TO RELIVE THOSE DAYS. I WAS BLESSED TO KNOW HER. SHE IS A JEWEL IN MY HEART. TO THE FAMILY..ALL MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS AND LOVE ARE WITH ALL OF YOU DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME.
